Game Server Rules Last Revised: January 2nd, 2017 1. Common Courtesy and Immersion All players are expected to be courteous and respect each other at all times. We understand the difference between "messing around" and trying to insult someone intentionally, but trying to put someone off is not something that will ever be acceptable in this community. Only administrators on-duty are permitted to be "out of character", meaning anything that you do in-game is considered canon and in-character. 2. Metagaming Metagaming is the act of mixing out-of-character knowledge into in-character knowledge. For example, finding out some information out-of-character through a forum thread or through a friend, then using that information as if you had obtained it in-character, would be metagaming. VOIP usage in-character is permitted only for on-duty BCSO and BCFD members who are using it in an emergency situation. In-character information is information that your character has learned through some canon or in-game events (they were told about something, they saw something, they heard about something, saw it on the news, etc.). Out of character information is any information which you as a player know, but your character hasn't found out in-character. 3. Powergaming Powergaming is the act of performing unrealistic or overpowered actions in-character, or the act of not allowing a receiving party a reasonable amount of time to react to your roleplay. Players are expected to roleplay realistically in-game and not to intentionally do things which are blatantly unfair for others. Examples of powergaming include: Roleplaying the ability to read minds or control people with magic. Roleplaying disabling or killing a person without allowing them time to react (reasonable exceptions are made in gun battles or brawls). 4. Deathmatching and Killing on Sight Deathmatching is the act of attempting to harm or kill another player without a valid roleplay reason. Killing on Sight is the act of attempting to harm or kill another player without sufficient roleplay leading up to the event. If your character is looking to harm another, it is expected that you will roleplay enough to create the scene and not just shoot or attack straight away. The acts of dying and attempting to harm, provoke, or kill the player or players involved with your character's death is not permitted. 5. Robberies and Scamming Robberies and scamming are two important parts of criminal roleplaying. In the interest of fairness to all, no player below level 3 may participate in this sort of roleplay. This means no player below level 3 can be robbed or scammed by another player, and that players below level 3 cannot rob or scam other players. Players with green names in-game are safe from robberies and cannot rob other players. When robbing a player, you may take the full amount of money they are carrying on them at the time. When robbing large amounts of money, a moderator must be notified using the in-game reporting feature. We honor the "what's on you is on you" concept. You can rob a player of anything that is on them at the time. A player may not be robbed of their faction weapons. When scamming a player, you may run a scam for a maximum of $10,000. You cannot scam a player for their houses, properties, vehicles, or anything of significant value. However, you can scam players with services, fraud, etc. When robbing the bank, there must be an administrator online to supervise the event. There must be at least 10 members of the BCSO on duty in order to rob the bank. The supervising administrator will determine when/if the silent alarms are triggered during the event. All players involved with robbing the bank (getaway drivers, robbers, etc.) must be at least level 5. 6. Safe Zones Safe Zones are areas where illegal activities are not permitted. Any player in these areas must make a reasonable effort to avoid committing crimes, and must avoid provoking fights. These areas are considered to be guarded heavily or to have a lot of witnesses in the area. All hospitals, medical stations, and BCSO precincts. Airports, Fort Zancudo, and the prison lobby. Blaine County Savings Bank (except during approved bank robberies) Committing crimes in unrealistic areas (i.e. the middle of the street) breaks immersion and players should avoid doing so. 7. Instructions When an administrator or moderator gives instructions, those instructions are expected to be followed even if the instruction is not stated in the rules. You are permitted to ignore an administrator instruction if the administrator is instructing you to directly violate the rules or to break the law. 8. Illicit and Offensive Roleplay Certain roleplay including, but not limited to, rape, cannablism, pedophilia, graphic sexual activities, and graphic violence is prohibited on the server because it may be offensive to some members of the community. Players may engage in this roleplay only with the permission of all involved parties. This roleplay may not take place in a public area or somewhere where others might walk in. If any party involved with this type of roleplay becomes uncomfortable, they may choose to end the roleplay immediately and it must be stopped. 9. Bug Abusing Whenever you discover a bug, you must report it to a moderator, administrator, or developer as soon as possible. Do not abuse bugs for your own advantage, or teach others how to abuse bugs. Intentionally exposing bugs for others to abuse qualifies as teaching a person how to abuse bugs. 10. Account Sharing and Selling of Assets It is not permitted to share your account with any person including a roommate, sibling, friend, or family member. You may not share your account with someone else, regardless of their relation to you or your intention - each player must have their own account, and may only have a single account. You cannot sell your account or anything your characters/account possesses on the server including, but not limited to in-game properties, cash, etc. Before transferring large sums of money (anything over $100,000), you must notify an administrator and gain approval unless you are purchasing a vehicle, property, etc. 11. Applications It is not permitted to share your application answers with anyone. Do not copy and paste from the rules, or copy another person's answers in any way. 12. Unfair Advantage (Modification, Bot, Etc) A program or device that alters your game to create an unrealistic or unfair scenario is not permitted. For example, a mod which highlights other players from miles away, or perhaps a bot that does commands on a timer. Spoiler After further delibration, please understand that binds which type commands faster (ie, numpad5 = t/mine) are permitted, but a script which does this on repeat is not allowed. In short, you must be at your computer and prepared to respond to roleplay, as this is a roleplay server.
